I plan to share Joel's article with my district administrators, school board members and our school district's English-as-second-language committee--and will incorporate his advice into our district's crisis response procedures. His guidance may be highly beneficial for us in the future. I am certain that the Huron district, like Grand Island, will place children first if such an emergency arises. RANDALL A. I had to deal with this while serving as an educational leader at Montebello, Calif., during the 1970s. I took issue with the immigration officials who would come on our school campuses, while parents were taking adult classes there to learn English. Sometimes the agents would raid an apartment and take the parents back across the Mexican border. Our schools then would receive calls from neighbors saying that young children could be heard crying in the apartment because they were alone and their parents had been forcibly forc·i·ble adj. 1.
