I am very pleased to report that many of the objectives that we hoped to achieve through this new relationship with NPGA NPGA National Propane Gas Association NPGA National Pygmy Goat Association NPGA Niched Pareto Genetic Algorithm NPGA Non-Project Grant Aid NPGA National Public Gas Agency NPGA Nebraska Propane Gas Association NPGA Northwest Propane Gas Association are well underway. See collaborative software. , FSCT and NPCA are combining their respective strengths to address challenges in both the technical and the business arenas of the coatings industry. Over the past months, a great deal of activity has taken place. The staffs of NPCA and FSCT have been integrated, working under one organizational chart An organizational chart is a chart which represents the structure of an organization in terms of rank. The chart usually shows the managers and sub-workers who make up an organization. that reflects the new reporting structure. In addition, several task groups, comprised of both NPCA and FSCT staff members, are exploring ways to increase efficiency and productivity. The four task groups and a brief overview of activities to date include: * PRINT AND E-PUBLICATIONS--Beginning in January January: see month. 2009, each issue of JCT JCT Junction JCT Jerusalem College of Technology JCT Joint Contracts Tribunal (UK build contracts governing body) JCT Journal of Coatings Technology JCT John Christner Trucking JCT Journal of Curriculum Theorizing CoatingsTech will feature exclusive information on the regulations that impact how our industry does business around the globe. As the official journal of both organizations, CoatingsTech will now be distributed to employees of NPCA member companies, greatly expanding the reach of this valuable publication. In addition, January will see the launch of a new joint e-newsletter, Coatings Today. This timely, biweekly bi·week·ly adj. 1. Happening every two weeks. 2. Every two weeks. communication will focus on industry breaking news, as well as the latest updates from the two leading coatings associations. * MEETINGS AND CONVENTIONS--With the support of NPCA, the breadth and scope of FSCT educational programs will expand dramatically in 2009. The FSCT will also sponsor four Advancements in Coatings (ACSeries) programs this year. These highly focused conferences will examine specific market segments--including coatings for concrete, plastics, and wood. In addition, NPCA's respected conference on Marine Coatings will now come under the umbrella of the ACSeries. * FINANCE AND MEMBERSHIP--Many of the internal accounting functions have been combined and streamlined. At the same time, efforts are underway to expand the benefits provided to members of both organizations. In 2009, the results of these efforts will become even more evident. * IT/WEBSITE--I am pleased to announce that several new web-based products are under development--including a Coatings Wiki and a new interactive Buyers Guide--and will be launched early in 2009. In addition, as announced on page 7 of this issue, the new NPCA advocacy website--CoatingsConnect--now enables FSCT members to receive email alerts on important legislative and regulatory issues. By registering on this site, members will also be able to take action directly via the web, advising their individual representatives and officials on how they feel about specific issues. Look for more web-based enhancements in 2009. As FSCT progresses through this transition period to a stronger, more viable resource for the industry, the three pillars of the organization--membership, publications, and education--will continue to be guiding principles.
