A matter of perspective.


This Muslim man has a strong opinion about the Muhammad cartoons. He calls them deplorable, which means "deserving criticism or contempt." In fact, he can't think of anything worse than the cartoons ... until he sees a protester calling for a violent response to them. What is the demeanor of the man speaking? How is his demeanor different from that of the "extremist"? What, do you think, is the cartoonist's opinion of extremists who have carried out violent protests about the Muhammad cartoons? What clues in this cartoon support your answer?
