It was founded by Lord Burghersh in 1822 with the help and ideas of the French eccentric harpist and composer Nicolas Bochsa and in 1830 was in London as well as taking on a raft of performances all over the UK. Meanwhile 19-year-old Elaine, who has been playing classical violin for a decade, has continued her studies in popular music and recording at Salford University and has crossed over her focus into the areas of jazz and popular violin. She is has performed in the North West at festivals and live venues with a variety of bands. It's been a busy time all round then. The concert, which will also feature Mark Deeks and Anthony Davie on jazz and classical piano respectively, David Venus on guitar and Marie Swan on jazz vocals, is being held in aid of the Newcastle Society for Blind People. It will be preceded by an afternoon classical/jazz jamming session, which promises to be a bit special. The sessions will be open to the public and there'll be tea, coffee and biscuits on the go. Proceedings will get underway at 2pm and will run until 4.30pm. All for the price of pounds 3. The main event will start at 7pm at the Unitarian Church on Ellison Place, Newcastle.
