I was a shop steward A Labor Union official elected to represent members in a plant or particular department. The shop steward's duties include collection of dues, recruitment of new members, and initial negotiations for settlement of grievances. Cross-references Labor Union. on the Liverpool Docks, and met Terry a few times. All he took from his MP salary was what he would have earned as a Fireman, which he was before going to Westminster. When we look at this situation now all MPs from all parties should hide in shame.
