CILLA Black Cilla Black OBE (born 27 May, 1942) is an English singer-songwriter and television personality, born Priscilla Maria Veronica White to a Protestant father and a Catholic mother in Liverpool.  received a lifetime achievement award yesterday to mark more than 40 years in showbusiness.

The singer and TV presenter was given the prestigious honour Honour or honor (see spelling differences), is the evaluation of a person’s trustworthiness and social status based on that individual's espousals and actions.  at a star-studded ceremony at London's Park Lane Hilton hotel.

The event - Women In Film and Television awards - recognises the achievements of outstanding individuals both behind and in front of the camera.

Jane Cussons, chief executive of the awards organisation, said: 'The longevity and diversity of Cilla's career is what makes her unique.

'From her early days as a singing sensation to becoming the undisputed first lady of television, Cilla has remained a true British icon.'

Last month, the 61--year-old Liverpool-born celebrity revealed she was to star in a new TV show after a year-long break.
