A look at women CEOs. (Next Month).


Last month, we looked behind the scenes at the rise of African American African American Multiculture A person having origins in any of the black racial groups of Africa. See Race.  women business owners Many online and offline organizations have been created to collect information about businesses around the world owned and operated by women. Many other organizations have been created to assist the women that own and operate those businesses.  on the BE 100S list. Next month, we explore this issue in greater depth. In 1988, there were eight women CEOs on the BE INDUSTRIAL/SERVICE 100 and BE AUTO DEALER 100 lists; this year, the number jumped to 12.

Next month, we hear from a handful of these women CEOs. Jeanette Abraham shares how a "can-do" attitude helped her purchase a 51% ownership of Detroit Heading. Gwendolyn Smith Iloani walked away from a six-figure job to start her own investment firm, Smith Whiley & Co. Today, she's closing her books with $213 million under management. And Angela Mason Angela Mason OBE (b. 9 August, 1944) is a British activist, the third director of the UK-based LGBT lobbying organisation Stonewall 1992 - 2002.

If being black isn't hard enough, they also have to deal with sexism. Despite these challenges, however, these sister CEOs are taking their businesses to the top.
