A longer, heavier versatile: the new Buhler Versatile four-wheel drive tractors bring more horsepower to the field.[ILLUSTRATION OMITTED] Four new models join the High Horsepower Tractor Series in the Buhler Versatile four-wheel drive lineup. These tractors--305-, 340-, 375- and 400-horsepower models--are powered by the Cummins QS11 11-liter engine with a 7 percent power bulge and 35 percent torque rise. The engines are Tier 3 compliant, meet the Tier 3 NOx emissions requirement and are approved for B20 biodiesel. Launched at the National Farm Machinery Show in mid-February, these tractors are Buhler's response to customer demand for a bigger cab and more weight in the 300 to 400 horsepower range, according to Eric Allison, Director of Sales for Buhler Versatile. Allison said the company responded with a tractor that has a longer wheelbase, more fuel capacity and a bigger cooling package than the outgoing mode. Cab and cab options--The cab on this tractor series is the same as on the High Horsepower Tractor range, with 8" more width than the outgoing model and an optional training seat. The deluxe cab package has a heated active-suspension seat, electronic automatic climate control, front and rear windshield wipers and washers, power remote heated external mirrors and front and rear sunvisors. Transmission Options--Two different transmissions are available. The standard transmission is a mechanical Quadshift 12 x 4 transmission with four synchronized sequential gears in each of its three ranges. Optionally, customers can select a 12 x 2 powershift transmission with single-lever control that provides clutchless shifting and simple gear selection. Road speed has been increased to a maximum of 22 MPH (35 KM/H) with the mechanical transmission. Hydraulics--The hydraulic system has true load-sensing tandem piston pumps and a total capacity of 50 GPM (190 l/min). The optional high flow hydraulics package increases capacity to 75 GMP (290 1/min). Four hydraulic remote outlets are standard; six are optional. Cooling System and Fuel System--The grille area is 17 percent larger than the outgoing model for better airflow and cooling. Fuel capacity is increased to 250 gallons (946 liters) from 230 gallons (870 liters). Availability--The new Versatile 305-400 horsepower tractor will be available in limited quantities beginning in May 2008.
