Toronto resident Shahla Ghannadian and her husband traveled to San Francisco for their daughter's wedding. Before flying home to Canada on March 26, the parents of the bride decided to see some of the Bay Area's tourist attractions. Among these was Sausalito--the quaint, artsy art·sy

While there, the Ghannadians stopped for ice cream. Mrs. Ghannadian then gave her purse to her husband, perhaps not wanting to dribble mocha Mocha (mō`kə), town (1990 est. pop. 2,000), S Yemen, a port on the Red Sea. Mrs. Ghannadian's purse was a designer Louis Vuitton The Louis Vuitton Company (more commonly known simply as Louis Vuitton) is a luxury French fashion and leather goods brand and company, headquartered in Paris, France. Inside the lavish bag were a Cartier watch, about $500 in U.S. and Canadian currency, and a large amount of jewelry that Mrs. Ghannadian and her daughter had worn for the wedding ceremony. Among the jewels were emeralds, pearls, and diamonds--one of them weighing 12 carats. In all, the handbag's contents were worth an estimated one million dollars!

Amazingly, Mr. Ghannadian absentmindedly forgot his wife's fortune-containing handbag on a Sausalito park bench, and the couple did not miss it until they got back to their San Francisco hotel. They called family members, who went to the bench, but the handbag was gone.

"My mom started crying," the Ghannadians' son, Ali, told the Marin Independent Journal The Marin Independent Journal is the main newspaper of Marin County, California. The Marin IJ has over 93,000 readers from its daily circulation of 35,000.[1] The paper reaches 47% of Marin County adults. . "We had the perfect wedding, the perfect weekend, up until a few hours before departure."

Sausalito police officers were pessimistic that someone would return the expensive purse and its very valuable contents. But they underestimated the goodness that still exists in America. The next day, John Suhrhoff of nearby San Rafael brought the handbag into the police station. It still contained all the cash and jewelry. Though Mr. Suhrhoff thought the jewels were costume jewelry, the bag and cash alone were valuable enough to tempt a less honest individual.

"You have to be a real man to return that bag," Ali Ghannadian told the Marin Independent Journal. "Even the bag is expensive. We're really, really thankful to that guy."
