 Project, the Builders Blitz 2006 was a nationwide program that began at 7 a.m. on Monday, June 5th and ran through Friday, June 9th. Home builders like AvalonBay donated materials and volunteer labor to the project which completed over 1,100 homes nation wide with a total of 5 homes being built in Suffolk County Long.

AvalonBay joined with Habitat for Humanity on Long Island, assigning 100 volunteers to work on the house from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.

The AvalonBay Builder's Blitz team consisted of over 75 AvalonBay employees and contractors, including vice president of development Matthew Whalen, development manager Chris Capece, project manager Andrew Baranello, and Superintendent John Siragusa.

In total, Long Island Builder's Blitz volunteers completed 30,000 labor hours, and built more than $1 million in real estate and provided homes for 14 children who had been living in substandard housing.
