A grand opening was held recently for the new Jamaica First Parking 162nd-163rd Street Parking Garage in Jamaica, Queens, a 406-space parking garage with 5,000 s/f of retail space developed by Jamaica First Parking, a division of Greater Jamaica Development Corporation.

Caption: A grand opening was held recently for the new Jamaica Jamaica (jəmā`kə), independent state within the Commonwealth (2005 est. pop. 2,732,000), 4,232 sq mi (10,962 sq km), coextensive with the island of Jamaica, West Indies, S of Cuba and W of Haiti.  First Parking 162nd-163rd Street Parking Garage in Jamaica, Queens Jamaica is a neighborhood in the borough of Queens in New York City. It was settled as a town by the English under Dutch rule in 1656 in New Netherland. The neighborhood is part of Queens Community Board 12. , a 406-space parking garage with 5,000 s/f of retail space developed by Jamaica First Parking, a division of Greater Jamaica Development Corporation. This $8 million project was completed within the contract schedule, scope and cost, with significant savings through change order negotiations, value engineering and schedule acceleration. Thornton-Tomasetti Group, Inc. provided daily owner's representation during an 18-month period from initial planning through construction of this parking facility. The project architect was Gruzen Samton. The Design/Build team included Jeffrey M.
