A good ghillie is hard to find. (Tech Talk).

A new ghillie suit--used as protective camouflage by the military, law enforcement and corrections personnel, as well as hunters and paintball players-- has been unveiled by Custom Concealment Inc., of Zanesville, Ohio.

The serape-style ghillie comes in two models: the tracker ghillie and the recon/surveillance ghillie, explained David Marion, the firm's president. Unlike the traditional sniper ghillie, these two new versions are designed for movement, Marion said. They come down only to waist level, which decreases the weight of the suit, he noted.

Other benefits include ready access to ones combat vest and equipment, easier venting and rapid cooling.

Ghillies disrupt the identifiable backpack pattern, and--unlike shooting blinds--they are portable when nor in use, Marion said.

The tracker ghillie is the shorter and lighter of the two. With the tracker ghillie, one can move and stalk, but the human body signature is obscured, he said. The recon/surveillance ghillie is heavier and longer.

It is designed to help law enforcement and military personnel.
