A global view of MS.Just as MS isn't the same from person to person, it varies from country to country, especially in how it is seen, treated, and accommodated for in public policy. For the first time, facts about the number of people with MS, and the availability of resources to diagnose, inform, treat, support, and care for them are centrally organized. Data from 64 nations can be compared at country, regional, and global levels. The project was undertaken by the World Health Organization and MSIF with the hope that uncovering realities will help motivate healthcare policy-makers. Data gathering continues; the Atlas will be updated as new information arrives and completely overhauled every four years. The MSIF was founded in 1967 by the same visionary Sylvia Lawry who started the National MS Society in 1946. MSIF now links MS societies in 42 countries.
