A full house.

Congratulations to Sheldon Karnilow on creating such a wonderful forum and mechanism for leading his team as described in your magazine's September 2006 issue ("The 'House' in Half Hollow Hills").

Where some superintendents simply tread water with educational objectives, under Sheldon's direction, the Half Hollow Hills' senior staff act more like a gold medal swim team.

BERJ AKIAN

CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board. , ClassLink, Weehawken, N.J.

I am always pleased when a colleague can break away from the daily pressure and pace to focus on the improvement of the total school climate as Sheldon Karnilow has done as detailed in his magazine piece.

Creating a focused learning community around performance outcomes, leadership and vision is where we all should be.
