The recent launch of the Appraisal Institute's redesigned Web site also marks the beginning of a new branding campaign for the entire organization. Our marketing and communication initiatives, moving forward, will incorporate the color palette Also called a "color lookup table," "lookup table," "index map," "color table" or "color map," it is a commonly used method for saving file space when creating 8-bit color images.  and imagery of the new site.

Find an Appraiser

"Find an Appraiser," our online directory of designated and associate members, continues to be one of the most frequently accessed areas of the Web site after the homepage. The directory has been redesigned to facilitate faster, more efficient searches. Most search options appear above the fold "Above the fold" is a graphic design concept that refers to the location of an important news story or a visually appealing photograph on the upper half of the front page of a newspaper.  to minimize scrolling. Plus, as an added member benefit, prominent "Go" buttons lead to the pages where designated members can edit or create their member profiles. Additionally, the results are no longer automatically displayed alphabetically. While users are still able to select that criterion, the default search will display the results randomly, giving members equal visibility.

Homepage

Your new experience begins at the homepage, where you can view the latest industry headlines and Appraisal Institute The Appraisal Institute (Institute), headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, is an international association of professional real estate appraisers.[1] It was founded in January 1991 when the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers (AIREA) and the  news "above the fold" (you can see them instantly without even scrolling) and, in one glance, easily grasp your options. Links to frequently accessed areas of the site appear on the left side, such as: "Find an Appraiser," the Appraisal Institute's online member directory, which appears at the top left corner; login Signing in and gaining access to a network server, Web server or other computer system. The process (the noun) is a "login" or "logon," while the act of doing it (the verb) is to "log in" or to "log on.  fields for the new "My Appraisal Institute" are directly below; and prominent "Go" buttons lead to the Lum n. 1. A chimney.

 Library and the Appraiser News Online (ANO Noun 1. In addition, links to the member benefits page and online membership application (the "Join" button) are prominently displayed so that prospective members can instantly learn more about membership opportunities.

Education Schedule

The master education schedule has been completely reconfigured so users can explore the Appraisal Institute's courses and seminars in one central location. The new menu options facilitate quick and efficient searches. After users choose between course or seminar offerings, they are presented with additional easy-to-use menu options for pinpointing their education search: users can search by format (classroom or online), class title, instructor and/or location all on one page.

My Appraisal Institute

The "My Appraisal Institute" area is a truly breakthrough feature of the new Web site. When users log in with their username The name you use to identify yourself when logging into a computer system or online service. Both a username (user ID) and a password are required. In an Internet e-mail address, the username is the left part before the @ sign. For example, KARENB is the username in karenb@mycompany.  and password (an option available to all visitors), they will view their customized My Appraisal Institute landing page. Members can easily access business tools and manage their Appraisal Institute activities in the left navigation bar A set of buttons or graphic images typically in a row or column used as a central point that link you to major topic sections on a Web site. If the navigation bar is a single graphic image with multiple selections, it is known as an imagemap. See imagemap. . For ultimate convenience, members and other users, such as current and past students, can view a listing of online classes for which they are currently enrolled as well as Appraisal Institute courses and seminars they have recently completed. Users simply click the "Go to class" link to enter their online class. For example, members would see all news and education applicable to them, while nonmembers who have taken classes will see their past and present class loads, and those who have not had any prior contact with the Appraisal Institute would see a reduced number of items, such as links to news stories, just one username and password will grant users access to the My Appraisal Institute area plus their online classes--multiple logins are no longer necessary.

Professional Designations

Another new section, "Professional Designations," is geared toward lenders, attorneys and other audiences who are considered prospective clients for Appraisal Institute members. This section showcases the expertise of Appraisal Institute designated members and highlights the requirements for the MAI MAI Mail (File Name Extension)

In April 2008, Appraisal Institute members who are involved in national committees, chapter or regional leadership, or other governance activities will gain access to a phenomenal member benefit via www.appraisalinstitute.org--the Communities of Practice. The Communities of Practice area will be available to these organizational leaders once they log into the My Appraisal Institute section of the Web site.

Each community of practice will serve both as a centralized workspace and a virtual headquarters. Appraisal Institute committee members and volunteer leaders will have the convenience of congregating online to work toward a common goal and stay informed of the latest developments. Within each community, members will have abundant opportunities to conduct committee business, exchange ideas, share documents and other resources, and stay connected to their fellow colleagues.

By providing a convenient online destination, these online communities will facilitate the work of the Appraisal Institute's volunteer leaders and help advance the organization overall.

If you're an Appraisal Institute member who would like to serve on a national committee and participate in the Communities of Practice, log into the My Appraisal Institute section of www.appraisalinstitute.org and click on "Leadership Resource Registry" to submit a volunteer form.
