A football hero without feet: Bobby Martin is a tackling force who won't be stopped.

Some people might say football players need legs to play the game. But they haven't seen 17-year-old Bobby Martin play tackle. Bobby plays for Colonel White High School in Dayton, Ohio. He was born without legs, but that doesn't slow him down. During a game on August 28, Bobby pushed through the defense and tackled the opposing quarterback.

"I don't care who's in front of me," says Bobby. "I just want to find the ball carrier and cause a fumble. That's my job."

Bobby can't get replacement legs because his body ends just below the waist. There's no place to attach metal legs. On the field, Bobby moves around by walking on his hands. In school, he uses a skateboard to get from class to class. He's a pretty popular kid. The school voted him this year's homecoming king.

The only trouble Bobby ran into this year was with a referee in Cincinnati, Ohio. The referee said that Bobby was breaking the rules because players are required to wear cleats and knee pads. Bobby's coaches had to go to state officials and get an exception. Now he's back on the field.

Bobby wants to go to college and design computer software. He says he doesn't want his football career to end when he graduates.
