A flair for Flare Circa+ * Flare * Mother West

Call it a Flare-up. After years of scarceness, several albums by Flare, a chamber-pop-with-a-shoegazer-twist outfit, have been refit and rereleased-including 2000's Circa, newly souped-up with four rare or unreleased bonus tracks as Circa+. Gay front man LD Beghtol (also of Moth Wranglers and the upcoming LD & the New Criticism) cushions his haunting crooning within superlush, ornate arrangements of strings, piano, and instrumental eclectica. This Mortal Coil was a musical dream pop project of Ivo Watts-Russell, founder of the British 4AD Records label. The project brought together key 4AD artists, as well as others not signed to the label, under an umbrella name:
