 Prince Mohammed is the brother of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa.

Among his sons are Shaikh Ahmed, Shaikh Hamad, Shaikh Khalid, the late Shaikh Khalifa, the late Shaikh Salman, Shaikh Abdulla Al Fateh, Shaikh Sultanuddine, Shaikh Hashim, Shaikh Nader, Shaikh Nooh and Shaikh Ali Zine El Abidine.

Last month, the King bestowed the Royal title upon HRH Prince Mohammed along with his brother, the Premier, and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Deputy Supreme Commander.

The late Prince Mohammed assumed several governmental positions, including the post of minister in charge of educational affairs and Customs Directorate.

From 1961 to 1965, he also served as police and Public Security chief

The Prince was also involved in drafting administrative and traffic regulations.

He also played a key role in setting rules ensuring public safety in the country in addition to necessary legislations to combat crime.

The late Prince Mohammed had a keen interest in sport competitions, social events and reached out to citizens and attended their celebrations.

Legacy

He was also known for raising camels, horses and falcons.

He was appointed general chief of police on May 3, 1961 during the reign of the late Amir, HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa.

In the early 60s, he patronised a power project in Karzakan village.

He played a key role in development initiatives, through meeting prominent personalities and co-ordinating between them and the leadership.

He always welcomed entrepreneurs, urging them to take part in the development process.

On February 15, 2000, King Hamad bestowed on him the Shaikh Isa Medal of Excellence.

He also thanked the King on his condolences following the death of ISCI chief Abdul-Aziz Al Hakim.

HRH the Premier received a telephone call from Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh Field Marshal Ali Abdullah Saleh (Arabic: علي عبد الله صالح), born March 21, 1942, is the current President of Yemen. , condoling him on the demise of HRH Prince Mohammed.
