medium secondary school on parkland, is motivated by political deal-making.

Plaid Cymru AM Chris Franks Christopher Paul Franks (born 2 August, 1951) is a Welsh engineer and politician. A member of Plaid Cymru, he has led the party's group on the Vale of Glamorgan council, and since 2007 he has been a member of the National Assembly for Wales.  has had the courage to put his constituents before his party by writing to the Welsh Education Minister to object to the council's plans ("Plaid is at odds over school plan", November 9). Then the secretary of the Cardiff East Branch of Plaid Cymru wrote to Viewpoints on November 12 to clearly state that Plaid's policy not to build on the Rumney Recreation Ground was reversed by deputy council leader Neil McEvoy without any consultation with Plaid members.

As Mr O'Neill wrote: "This was part of its coalition deal with the Liberal Democrats."

The Liberal Democrat-Plaid Cymru run Cardiff council The County Council of City and County of Cardiff (Welsh: Dinas a Sir Caerdydd) is the governing body for Cardiff, one of the Principal Areas of Wales. The council consists of 75 councillors, representing 29 electoral wards.  has always maintained that the decision to build our new secondary school on parkland was solely an educational based decision. However, in response to Chris Franks' intervention, Plaid Cymru leader Neil McEvoy told the Echo: "Given that the Llanrumney deal has unanimous group support and was part negotiated by Plaid's chief executive Gwenllian Lansdown, we feel that Chris has shown remarkably poor judgment by going public on this issue."

This raises a number of questions that need to be addressed by deputy council leader Neil McEvoy.

What were the specifics of the Llanrumney deal? What concessions did Plaid Cymru gain from the negotiations? What role did Coun Lansdown play in the deal making? Keith Phillip Jones Parracombe Crescent, Llanrumney, Cardiff
