Summer means more than blockbusters; it's also the start of the gay and lesbian film festival season. Here's a tip sheet

The Brandon Teens Story (U.S., 1998, directed by Susan Muska and Greta Olafsdottir). A disturbing look at the 1993 triple murder of Teena, a young woman living as man, and two of her acquaintances.

Treyf (U.S., 1998, directed by Alisa Lebow and Cynthia Madansky). Treyf--which is Yiddish for "unkosher"--is an unorthodox documentary by and about two Jewish lesbians (the filmmakers) who meet and fall in love at a Passover seder.
