A federal bankruptcy court in Kansas City, Mo., gives final approval allowing Cargill Fertilizer Inc., Minneapolis, to purchase assets owned by Farmland Hydro HYDRO - Hydrographic Survey, Tampa, Fla. Farmland Hydro is a limited partnership owned equally between Hydro Agri North America Inc. and Farmland Industries Inc. Under the agreement, Cargill assumes operations of Farmland Hydro's Green Bay fertilizer plant near Bartow Bartow, city (1990 pop. 14,716), seat of Polk co., central Fla.; inc. 1882. The economy is based on the production of phosphate and the raising of citrus fruit and cattle. Bartow was established in 1853 on the site of a fort built in the Seminole War., Fla., and acquires approximately 15,000 acres of land currently being permitted for a phosphate mine operation.
