Nick Lavigueur reports:.A CHARITY fun day boosted the coffers of the appeal to help baby cancer victim Ruddi. More than 2,000 people turned up in support of Ruddi to enjoy live music, games and fair rides at the YMCA YMCA in full Young Men's Christian Association Nonsectarian, nonpolitical Christian lay movement that aims to develop high standards of Christian character among its members. at Laund Hill. Ruddi, of Lowergate, Paddock, was perfectly healthy before he started to experience problems going to the toilet when he was seven months old. His GP treated him for constipa-tionteething problems and even asthma before Ali, who works for Cedar Court Hotel, decided to take him to hospital. After being transferred to St James's, Ruddi was diagnosed with rhabdomysarcoma, a mystery disease with no known cause. Only 60 children a year are diagnosed with the disease in the UK and he is the youngest person ever to have a cancerous growth of this type on his prostate gland in the UK. His treatment has been blighted by problems. Ruddi's dad Craig Waterworth, 28, will be doing a coast-to-coast bike ride next weekend to try and raise even more cash for the Leeds hospital. Craig will be joined by seven colleagues from Calderdale College riding from Scarborough across to Blackpool. The 220km bike ride will take place on Saturday and Sunday.
