A family-owned livestock feed business from Fort Collins, Colo.,
has filed a multimillion dollar federal lawsuit against Land
O'Lakes Inc., accusing the company of marketing livestock feed
under a brand name that the family business has used for more than a
decade. The federal lawsuit accuses Land O'Lakes of using the brand
name Profile[R] for its line of feeds, despite the fact it is a
federally registered trademark of Cache La Poudre Feeds LLC. The lawsuit
seeks an injunction preventing Land O' Lakes from further use of
the Profile trademark and seeks Land O'Lakes' profits of $132
million from the sale of products under Cache La Poudre's Profile
trademark.
