The university's taekwondo club sent a seven-strong team to the BSTF BSTF Bibliographic Services Task Force (University of California Libraries) BSTF Base Shop Test Facility BSTF British Student Taekwondo Federation (UK) BSTF Battle Staff Training Facility Championships ( and returned with three gold medals, two silvers and one bronze. Four fighters ( including sports scholars, David Brown, Sebastian Hatton and Shirin Lajevardi ( also competed at the BUSA BUSA Business Unity South Africa BUSA British Universities Sporting Association BUSA Black United States of America BUSA Seaman Apprentice, Builder Striker (Naval Rating) BUSA BackupUSA BUSA Buali Sina University (Iran) Championships, which are exclusively for black belts. Here Northumbria collected two gold medals, one silver and one bronze. The club's best result, however, came from the British Olympic Taekwondo Championships. Only the three sports scholars competed in this championship. Brown lost in the semi-final against the current British champion in his weight category. Shirin and Sebastian lost in their respective finals against current and previous British champions, who had recently fought in the Athens Olympics. The trio have also fought in Germany and Holland this year against some of the best fighters in the world. |
