The exhibition, presented by local artists Leila Romaya and Paul McCann, gathers together for the first time in the city five decades of Liverpool poetry.

It also features newly commissioned portraits of the 12 poets, together with audio presentations of their memories of Liverpool.

Paul Farley said: "Liverpool has a tendency to self-mythologise itself, and is used to hearing the sound of its own voice and seeing itself onscreen on·screen or on-screen
