A day in the life:.Martin Smith, a group account director with Karol Marketing, takes us through a typically busy day in his working life. 8.15am Having had breakfast with my seven-year-old son, Mackenzie, I arrive at Karol Marketing's offices on the East Quayside quay·side n. Next, I read any emails which have come in overnight. 9.15am I have regular meetings with Michelle Lindsay, who oversees activities across all our account teams. 10.15am I catch up with some of my international clients to discuss the progress of ongoing projects. 11.30am Time for a new business presentation which I attend with Stefan Lepkowski, managing director of Karol Marketing. We pick up a sandwich on the way back to the office. 2pm In the afternoon I take some time to review Karol Marketing's current recruitment progress. I sift through CVs which have arrived in the morning and shortlist any candidates for interview. If we're not in the recruitment process, I'll call our clients in North America North America, third largest continent (1990 est. pop. 365,000,000), c.9,400,000 sq mi (24,346,000 sq km), the northern of the two continents of the Western Hemisphere. to discuss the progress of specific projects. 2.45pm I have a quick review with the staff to update myself on any issues which have arisen during the day and to ensure all PR and marketing programmes for our clients are running to plan. 3pm We often hold company brainstorms - the whole team joins in and we discuss creative ideas for a potential new client or perhaps ideas for an existing client. 4pm My final job of the day is typically to prepare a strategy document for an international client, perhaps detailing my recommendations for their positioning at a major international exhibition or in relation to their entry into a new market. 6pm I finish the working day by going for a quick beer with Stefan. We discuss the day's activities and update each other on any major developments. 6.30pm Head home, making sure that I arrive in time to play with my son and read him a story before bed. |
