It was the first civic theatre to be built after the second world war in Britain and as such was more than a place of entertainment. 1hr 45mins IMAGINE everything you can about traditional musicals and forget it - The Beggar's Opera is no traditional musical. Set in the future, the Vanishing Point production tells the tale of the villian MacHeath (Sandy Grierson) and his band of followers who live in a dark underworld Underworld See also Hell. Dark and edgy, the show sets out to shock - sex scenes and swearing in abundance - but seemed to prevent any connection being made between the audience and the cast. The impressive A Band Called Quinn remained on stage throughout the performance -which is no mean feat - providing the show with a grungy grun·gy adj. grun·gi·er, grun·gi·est Slang In a dirty, rundown, or inferior condition: grungy old jeans.
