SYRIAN troupe the Inana Dance Theatre are preparing to dance their way into the kingdom's hearts as the country readies itself for Bahrain Summer 2009.

Zenobia Queen of the Levant Levant (ləvănt`) [Ital.,=east], collective name for the countries of the eastern shore of the Mediterranean from Egypt to, and including, Turkey.  will take place at 8.30pm on Monday, kicking off 15 different cultural events over a four-week festival, concluding on August 20.

Tickets went on sale yesterday at stands in Bahrain City Centre and Seef Mall, with culture-vultures across the island desperate to get their hands on the hottest tickets in town.

The cultural feast will also feature acts by a giant purple dinosaur dinosaur (dī`nəsôr) [Gr., = terrible lizard], extinct land reptile of the Mesozoic era. The dinosaurs, which were egg-laying animals, ranged in length from 2 1-2 ft (91 cm) to about 127 ft (39 m). , 'Whirling Dervishes' and jazz legends, as well as traditional Arabic song and dance.

Opening alongside the theatre is the Nakhool Tent in Hillat Abd Al Saleh, which will feature live music, puppet puppet, human or animal figure, generally of a small size and performing on a miniature stage, manipulated by an unseen operator who usually speaks the dialogue.  shows, educational and artistic workshops as well as daily competitions.

Also running for the duration of the festival will be The Pearling Songs boat trips, which depart the Coral Beach Club at 5pm and 7pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Organised by the Ministry of Culture and Information under the patronage of Minister Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, it will run alongside the Ta'a Al Shabab Youth Festival, which will conclude on August 15.

Among the most high-profile performers at the Bahrain Summer 2009 festival will be Barney the Dinosaur, Egyptian diva Amal Maher and jazz legend James Moody James Moody may refer to:

There will be a spectacular pyrotechnic show by Canadian-based Circus Orange.

African and Latin American-influenced events are also on offer, with Kasai Masai Soukous sou·kous

Tickets for the majority of events will be free, with only The Pearling Song (500 fils), Barney the Dinosaur (BD3 for Class A and 500 fils for Class B tickets) and Circus Orange (BD 3 for Class A and 500 fils for Class B tickets) levying a charge.

All Ta'a Al Shabab Youth Festival events are free of charge.

The festivals are being sponsored by Gulf Air, Batelco, Al Safir Hotel and Tower and Moda Mall.
