A concert of youth.

LAST NOVEMBER, the Jose Artigas Youth Orchestra of Uruguay gave a concert in the Hall of the Americas of the OAS. The event was organized by the Permanent Mission of Uruguay to the OAS with the support of the Museum of the Americas. Ambassador Marfa del Lujan Flores introduced the orchestra at the concert, which was attended by diplomats, OAS officials, students, and academics.

The Jose Artigas Symphony Orchestra is the result of an effort that began in 1996.

Since then, it has worked very closely with the National System of Children and Youth Orchestras of Venezuela and its acclaimed Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra through various agreements and teacher exchanges. Under the direction of Maestro Ariel Britos, the aim of the Jose Artigas Orchestra is to promote the appreciation of classical music through interaction with the public.
