Wallpaper is back - minus Echo Beach - and Alan's signed up to star in the show's second series, and this time the spin-off is apocalyptic zombie A computer that has been covertly taken over in order to perform some nefarious task. "For me, it's going to be one of the great classics, like The Office and Fawlty Towers and stuff. It's like The Office only slightly less cringey," he says. Moving Wallpaper's opening episode sees TV executive Jonathan Pope (Ben Miller) aghast when Echo Beach is axed, and desperate to retain his position of power. Alan, 61, has nothing but praise for his co-stars. "Ben takes my breath away. He gives me a real problem because in some of the scenes I have to keep a straight face and it's not easy with him." He's happy to joke about what the future holds. "I think probably I'd really like to be a movie star," he grins.
