A boost for city trees.


Attendees cited key speakers and an informative outdoor urban forest festival in giving the thumbs-up to September's Sixth National Urban Forest Conference. A total of 980 enthusiasts--ranging from foresters and arborists to kids and local citizen groups--attended the three-day blitz blitz

Crowd favorites, based on critique forms, included speakers Vicki Clark, a volunteers advocate; foresters Bob Skiera and Preston Cole, both from Milwaukee; and local City Council president and now newly elected mayor Sharon Sayles-Belton; the exhibits; and ReLeaf in the Park, a half-day festival of demonstrations, displays, and a ceremonial tree planting in Loring Park Loring Park is the largest park in the Central Community of Minneapolis, Minnesota on the southwest corner of downtown Minneapolis. It also lends its name to the surrounding neighborhood. . While the sixth conference was in full swing, planners for the seventh conference were in the exhibit hall tantalizing tan·ta·lize
