A balancing act. (News Cartoon).


Almost one year into his presidency, George George, river, c.345 mi (560 km) long, rising in a lake on the Quebec-Labrador boundary, E Canada. It flows N through Indian Lake (125 sq mi/324 sq km) to Ungava Bay (an arm of Hudson Strait).  W. Bush finds himself dealing with the delicate issues of building an international coalition against terrorism terrorism, the threat or use of violence, often against the civilian population, to achieve political or social ends, to intimidate opponents, or to publicize grievances.  and maintaining good relations with coalition partners. In this cartoon cartoon [Ital., cartone=paper], either of two types of drawings: in the fine arts, a preliminary sketch for a more complete work; in journalism, a humorous or satirical drawing. , President Bush is riding a unicycle on a tightrope while balancing four circles, two of which represent the coalition and its partners. Why does the cartoonist have the circle marked "coalition" above the circle marked "partners"? What might the other two circles represent? What is the cartoonist's opinion of how well Bush is managing this balancing act? Do you agree with his opinion? Explain your answers.
