A writer at war; Vasily Grossman Vasily Semyonovich Grossman (first name alternatively spelled as Vassily or Vasiliy, Russian: Василий Семёнович  with the Red Army, 1941-1945.

Grossman, Vasilii Semenovich. Ed. by Antony Beevor Antony James Beevor (born December 14 1946) is a British historian, educated at Winchester College and Sandhurst. He studied under the famous historian of World War II, John Keegan.  and Luba Vinogradova.

Grossman (1905-64) was considered a hero for his reporting during World War II. Beevor and Vinogradova have woven A woven is a cloth formed by weaving. It only stretches in the Bias directions (between the warp and weft directions), unless the threads are elastic. Woven cloth usually frays at the edges, unless measures are taken to counter this, such as the use of pinking shears or hemming.  a narrative of his account of the Eastern Front mostly from his wartime notebooks, but also some essays that are in the Russian State Archive for Literature and the Arts, and some letters in the possession of his daughter and step-son. Photographs of him in the field, and maps of battles are included.
