A VOICE NO THIEF CAN STAND; NEW CAR ALARM BROADCASTS YOUR OWN VOICE TO DEMAND MAXIMUM ATTENTION
SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- We've all been there -- woken up at 4 a.m. by a car alarm siren piercing the night. Now, while your neighbors rush out to check their cars, you can go back to sleep, since your alarm shouts your personalized message: "Help! Blue Mustang under attack!"
The multitude of car alarms today makes it nearly impossible to distinguish one blaring alarm from another. Worse, the high rate of false alarms has desensitized most of us to the annoying sirens. Enter Voice Innovation's new "Street Speak(TM)," a unique car alarm that uses the urgency of the driver's own pre-recorded plea for help to attract maximum attention to the vehicle.
"User-recordable voice alarms address a large need, since over 1.5 million vehicles disappear each year," according to Arthur Zwern, president of Street Speak manufacturers Voice Innovation.
In addition, theft of stereos, speakers and other expensive equipment from vehicles accounts for over one-third of all larceny activities in the United States. Even when a thief finds nothing valuable inside, smashed car windows or damaged door locks cost hundreds of dollars to repair. All in all, about one in 10 vehicles will be broken into at some time.
"With car theft and car alarm sales both growing over 10 percent per year, it became clear to us that conventional alarms aren't solving the problem," said Zwern. "After two years of development, we recently received a key patent for user-recorded voice alarm technology, so our products are now on the market and scaring off thieves."
Voice Innovation's Street Speak product line includes a variety of user-recordable alarms, as well as low-cost recordable voice modules that can be added to existing alarms. Different messages can be recorded to alert you if your vehicle was disturbed in your absence, and an optional microwave radar can be used to warn away a thief before the vehicle is even touched. Retail prices range from $49 to $449, with a limited lifetime warranty. For information or to locate a local dealer, call 800-237-6667.
