A Turn Toward Legal Counsel.During a recent meeting of AASA AASA American Association of School Administrators AASA Asian American Student Association AASA Association of Academies of Sciences in Asia AASA Aging and Adult Services Administration AASA Administrative Assistant to the Secretary of the Army staff members, a colleague summarized the status of the association's legal support program, which makes payments to those requiring the personal use of a lawyer for issues relating to relating to relate prep → concernant relating to relate prep → bezüglich +gen, mit Bezug auf +acc work. He mentioned how AASA had paid nearly $102,000 in legal claims to 45 members during the past year, a record dollar figure in the program's long history. Most of the payments, not surprisingly, supported a superintendent's need for legal representation to resolve an unmendable breakdown in the school board-superintendent relationship. What I have gathered from this increasing reliance on legal support is that the contract establishing the superintendent's terms of employment and working conditions has probably never been a more important document than it is today. Therefore, in an issue of The School Administrator that leads off with the always lively subject of superintendent evaluation, we have chosen to publish several articles about the superintendent's contract. In particular, I would call your attention to Jan Borelli's short but candid can·did adj. 1. Free from prejudice; impartial. 2. So I'll end with this invitation: We welcome your stories on matters both significant and small that relate to your personal and professional lives as school system leaders. This is your magazine. It needs your voices. Jay P. Goldman Voice: 703-875-0745 E-mail: jgoldman@aasa.org |
