in a civil war that lasted 14 years. Between 1990 and 2004 Liberia hosted various humanitarian interventions. This book, the product of a yearlong research project by the Peace Missions Programme at the Institute for Security Studies, is an attempt to understand the complex dynamics of the interventions. The 12 chapters were written by scholars, civil servants, lawyers, and military officers.
