A Ton of Oregon Crab to Be Consumed at Popular Crab and Seafood Festival This April; Annual Astoria-Warrenton Event Features Ocean Bounty.


Astoria-Warrenton Area Chamber of Commerce:
WHAT:   In celebration of the bounty of fresh Oregon seafood, the
        24th annual Astoria-Warrenton Crab and Seafood Festival is
        expected to lure more than 20,000 visitors to Oregon's
        historic North Coast for a three-day feast. The highlight of
        the festival is a traditional crab dinner, where visitors
        indulge in fresh-caught Dungeness crab.

        The event -- set against the breathtaking backdrop of Young's
        Bay and Saddle Mountain -- offers a variety of the freshest
        local seafood, varietals from more than 50 of Oregon's
        prestigious wineries, craft beers from around the state, and
        live entertainment. Visitors can also watch Dungeness crab
        races and wander through more than 200 booths featuring
        regional artisans displaying their work.

WHEN:   Friday - Sunday, April 28 - 30, 2006

        --  Friday: 4 p.m. - 9 p.m.

        --  Saturday: 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.

        --  Sunday: 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.

WHERE:  The Crab and Seafood Festival is held at the Clatsop County
        Fairgrounds. Shuttle service is available for $1 from area
        hotels, campgrounds and park-and-ride locations at the Port of
        Astoria and Astoria High School. Astoria is located on
        Oregon's historic North Coast, where the Columbia River meets
        the Pacific Ocean, 70 miles northwest of Portland. It is the
        oldest American settlement west of the Rockies and has a rich
        maritime history. Still home to a working waterfront, Astoria
        boasts a vibrant community including art galleries, museums,
        restaurants, shops, Victorian homes and the internationally
        acclaimed Columbia River Maritime Museum.

COST:   Admission for the festival is $6 on Friday and Sunday, and
        $8 on Saturday. Admission is $1 for kids 12 and younger, and
        $4 for seniors 62 and older.
