A Tandem and Cantel agreement.


MARKHAM, Ontario--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 12, 1994--Tandem Computers Canada Ltd. and Rogers Cantel Inc. (Cantel), Canada's largest and only national cellular company, are pleased to announce that they have signed a business agreement.

Tandem will be providing hardware and software solutions to support many of Cantel's new advanced wireless services Advanced Wireless Services, also known as AWS-1, is a wireless telecommunications technology, used for mobile data services, video, and messaging. AWS-1 is used in the United States and replaces the spectrum formerly allocated to Multipoint Multichannel Distribution Service, .

The contract involves assisting in the design and implementation of Cantel's advanced wireless services that will address the requirements of its growing cellular telephone subscriber base. As part of the agreement, Cantel has purchased Tandem's massively parallel See MPP. , fault-tolerant NonStop Himalaya K1000 servers and Tandem's recently announced Intelligent Network Services (INS INS
