A TRYING NIGHT FOR JETHAWKS' NEW ALL-STAR : JETHAWKS 6 BAKERSFIELD 5.

Byline: Chris Cocoles Daily News Staff Writer

An All-Star game An all-star game is an exhibition game played by the best players in their sports league. The players are often chosen by a popular vote of fans of the sport and the game often occurs at the halfway point of the regular season, although this is not the case for some all-star games  curse? Possibly for a couple of innings. But JetHawks starter Patrick Dunham steered his ship back on course Thursday night at Bakersfield.

One day after the seven-game winner was added to the roster of the Valley Division All-Star team team as an injury replacement, Dunham overcame a shaky beginning to help the JetHawks take a 6-3 lead over the host Blaze in the ninth inning. The victory would push Lancaster to a sweep of the three-game series and run their win streak to seven.

Staked to a 3-0 lead in the first, Dunham labored in the second. Four of the first five batters collected base hits, and only a baserunning miscue mis·cue

Dunham (8-3) stiffened over the next five innings, allowing just one runner to reach second before departing. The right-hander allowed seven hits and two walks while striking out five.

Two Bakersfield errors, one on a double steal attempt, the other a catcher's interference ruling, provided the JetHawks with two more runs in the eighth.
