A TOTAL GRAYOUT LUNAR EVENT ECLIPSED BY CLOUD COVER.

Mother Nature disappointed more than 100 skygazers at Descanso Gardens Descanso Gardens is a 160-acre botanical garden and historical site located at 1418 Descanso Drive, La Cañada Flintridge, California, USA. Situated in a natural “bowl” in the San Rafael Hills, this calming, urban retreat is just 14 miles north of downtown Los Angeles.  on Saturday night as overcast skies blocked Southland south·land or South·land

``I'm very disappointed,'' said Tom Dorff, 65, an amateur astronomer from Sonoma who helped organize the garden's event. ``But that's part of astronomy. That's the way it is.''

A lunar eclipse occurs when the moon, Earth and sun are in alignment and the moon passes through the planet's shadow, or umbra. Watchers near the East Coast, where skies were clear Saturday, said the eclipse appeared light red, although some reported a brownish color.

At Descanso Gardens, visitors who paid $9 to see the eclipse through several powerful telescopes set up in the parking lot were offered refunds when the eclipse remained hidden.

But some, like Mark Bodenstein, 53, and his wife Dale, 51, weren't going to let a little cloud A Little Cloud is a short story in Dubliners, by James Joyce. The story

``We got until 7,'' said Dale, a nursery school nursery school, educational institution for children from two to four years of age. It is distinguishable from a day nursery in that it serves children of both working and nonworking parents, rarely receives public funds, and has as its primary objective to promote  teacher. ``We brought our chairs, veggie burgers For a burgerless burger, see .

They should have been able to see the moon in the dark part of the Earth's shadow from just after sundown until about 5:30 p.m. As the moon rose over the eastern horizon, it would have appeared as a reddish crescent growing thicker by the minute.

Instead, most began packing up and leaving Descanso, while others stayed to watch a slide show about stars, meteors and comets.
