Valerie said: "Our minds were made up when we discovered Macallan means son of Alan." But they omitted one `l' to ensure it mimics the spelling of his dad's name. Macalan is now nine months old but when bosses at the award-winning Speyside distillery heard of the accolade, they laid down a case of 18-year-old single malt for their namesake name·sake n.
