A Summer to Die for: After Dark Films and The Weinstein Company Swap Horror Release Dates.


"CAPTIVITY" In Theaters Nationwide Friday the Thirteenth of July

LOS ANGELES Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  -- After Dark Films, a motion picture production and distribution company and creator of Horrorfest: Eight Films to Die For, today announced that horror/thriller film CAPTIVITY, starring Elisha Cuthbert Elisha Ann Cuthbert (born November 30, 1982) is a Canadian actress. Born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Cuthbert is known as the former co-host of the Canadian children's television series, Popular Mechanics for Kids  and Daniel Gillies Daniel Gillies (born March 14, 1976) is a Canadian-born New Zealand actor.

Gillies was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada to a pediatrician father. He was raised in New Zealand and went to Southwell School and the Hamilton Boys' High School.
, will open July 13, after switching release dates with The Weinstein Company's 1408, which moves to June 22.

On March 29, CAPTIVITY received a one-month suspension of the ratings process from the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA MPAA

), due to advertising in Los Angeles and New York New York, state, United States

"While the recent MPAA sanction affected the promotion for CAPTIVITY, we are confident that our fans will enjoy all the gut-wrenching thrills that have been the buzz of the horror industry these past few months."

CAPTIVITY, a Foresight Unlimited production, will be distributed by Lionsgate Entertainment and After Dark Films. CAPTIVITY is produced by Mark Damon, Sergei Konov, Gary Mehlman and Leonid Minkovski. The executive producers are Valery Chumak and Courtney Solomon.

Unhappy with the marketing concepts they were being presented with, Solomon and Zeman decided to release the film themselves with no previous marketing and distribution experience. Solomon spearheaded the campaign and hired various agencies to handle theatrical booking, trailers, key art and media buying. After Dark Films recently created Eight Films to Die For: After Dark Horrorfest which debuted in 35 cities over the course of three days, establishing itself as the largest film festival of its kind and presenting a unique and unprecedented approach to releasing a group of new indie in·die
