A Short List of Some Cool Car Films

We all fancy cars and movies, so what could be better than a great car picture? Here is a short list of some notable car films from the past.

Americans have long had a love affair with their cars, and of course, we all love movies too. There have been a a small number of car movies that have become classics, as much for the cars as for the picture. While any lists of the "best" will always miss someone''s favorite, here are a couple of movies with some wonderful cars.

From the year 1968- Bullitt. Starring Steve McQueen and Jacqueline Bisset, directed by Peter Yates. This film features one of the best car chases in film history in a police/action thriller. Also features a "must see" 390 GT Mustang and a Dodge Charger 440 Magnum.

From 1974 - Gone in 60 Seconds - Featuring a yellow 1973 Ford Mustang named Eleanor and an added of the best car chases in a 40-minute culmination through Los Angeles and a crash course to teach the layman the nitty-gritty of the car-robbery trade. And do not fail to remember the remake.

From the millennial year of 2000- Gone in 60 Seconds. Featuring an all-star cast list and crew including Nicolas Cage, Angelina Jolie. Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. But this movie is not about the genius of the stars but only about the flash of the cars. Fast cars, stolen cars, wrecked cars. Simply about the cars.

From 1981 - The Cannonball Run and from 1984 - The Cannonball Run 2 - Illegitimate road races across the countryside with a crazy group of actors of eccentric characters that are eager to do everything to win.

From 1983 - Christine- An work out in horror starring a cool but possessed 1957 Plymouth Fury. The story is from Stephen King, can''t go wrong there.

And an all-time beloved of many, from 1973 - American Graffiti - A bona fide unforgettable movie about the summer of 1962. Directed by George Lucas and starring Ron Howard, Richard Dreyfuss, Harrison Ford, Cindy Williams and Mackenzie Phillips before their significant careers.

And there is your quick list, just a few of the best "car" movies. There are more and there will be more because we will forever love our cars.
