A SUPER BOWL FEELER FOR PASADENA.

PASADENA - A Rose Bowl official said Thursday the stadium is being considered as an alternate site for Super Bowl XXXV Super Bowl XXXV was the 35th championship game of the modern National Football League (NFL). The game was played on January 28, 2001 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida following the 2000 regular season. , originally scheduled for Jan. 27 in the New Orleans New Orleans (ôr`lēənz –lənz, ôrlēnz`), city (2006 pop. 187,525), coextensive with Orleans parish, SE La., between the Mississippi River and Lake Pontchartrain, 107 mi (172 km) by water from the river mouth; founded  Superdome.

Darryl Dunn, general manager of the Rose Bowl, said he believes the game will remain in New Orleans despite scheduling problems brought about by the postponement of games because of the terrorist attacks. If the game is moved, however, the Rose Bowl would be prepared to host its sixth Super Bowl game, he said.

,'' Dunn said. ``They're looking at all alternatives in case New Orleans doesn't work out. I believe, and I think they believe, they will end up working it out with New Orleans. However, if they don't, we're a possible alternative.

``If that opportunity becomes available to us, we certainly would welcome it. That decision would have to go through the Rose Bowl operating company operating company

hope to preserve the league's 16-game regular season and the normal playoff schedule. To do this, the NFL is trying to find a way to play the postponed games at the end of the original schedule, then push back the postseason one week.

That would mean pushing the Super Bowl back from Jan. 27 to Feb. 3. The NFL continued negotiations Thursday with the National Automobile Dealers Association, which has booked the Superdome that weekend for its annual convention.

``Our goal is to preserve our playoffs and have all 12 teams,'' NFL vice president Greg Aiello said. ``Another key priority is to keep the Super Bowl in New Orleans.''

If that can't be accomplished, the game could be scheduled for the Rose Bowl on Feb. 3 - one month to the day after the historic venue is scheduled to host the national championship college football game.

``It would be quite a month,'' Dunn admitted.

``We've hosted five Super Bowls, two World Cups and the Rose Bowl Game every year,'' Dunn said.
