As the year 2000 approaches, this space will highlight important dates in Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  sports history over the last century:

Jan. 12, 1946: Less than a month after winning their first NFL NFL

Cleveland fans quickly embraced a new team, the Browns, of the All-American Football Conference (some teams of which merged into the NFL in 1950). The Browns, of course, eventually left Cleveland also.
