,'' the movie about sports agents, is a box office hit and is on several lists of the year's best films.

But how do real agents feel about it?

David Falk David B. Falk (born 1950)[1][2] is an American sports agent who primarily works with NBA players. He is best known for representing sports icon Michael Jordan for the entirety of Jordan's career. , one of the most successful agents in the business, concedes the Jerry Maguire is entertaining, but adds, ``like an overtime game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

, it was too long, without enough stars and had a questionable game plan.''

Falk reviewed the film for The Washington Post, and his criticism appeared in Wednesday's edition.

Jerry Maguire, the sports agent portrayed by Tom Cruise, supposedly is the composite of several agents, although Leigh Steinberg This article reads like a news release, or is otherwise written in an overly promotional tone.

``If football super-agent Leigh Steinberg truly was the inspiration for Maguire, my friend and esteemed colleague should find himself a better Hollywood agent,'' Falk writes.

``Maguire hardly reflected the dedication, passion and social consciousness that have propelled Steinberg into the top echelon of athlete representation.''

Correction: the first Titan was a woman

The way Sandy Robey sees it, the mascot for Traverse City West High School shouldn't be just one of the guys.

The Board of Education decided to nickname the new school's athletic teams the Titans - seemingly as conventional a name as Traverse City High School's Trojans or St. Francis High School's Gladiators gladiators [Lat.,=swordsmen], in ancient Rome, class of professional fighters, who performed for exhibition. Gladiatorial combats usually took place in amphitheaters. They probably were introduced from Etruria and originally were funeral games. .

Then Robey informed the board that her research into Greek mythology showed the first Titan - indeed, the mother of all Titans - was Gaea. She told the board that the school mascot also should be a female.

``Nothing against men, but symbols do mean a lot,'' Robey told the Detroit Free Press The Detroit Free Press is the largest daily newspaper in Detroit, Michigan, USA. It is sometimes informally referred to as the "Freep". Some still refer to it locally as "The Friendly" -- a slogan from an ad campaign in the '70s.  for a story published Thursday. ``I have a daughter, and she hears how everything's equal, you can do anything a man can do.

``But the mascot is the rallying point for the whole school. When it always has the male personification personification, figure of speech in which inanimate objects or abstract ideas are endowed with human qualities, e.g., allegorical morality plays where characters include Good Deeds, Beauty, and Death. , it says something.''

School officials said they hoped the controversy engendered by Robey's request would be resolved by next fall when West High opens.

``I think it's going to end up being a gender-neutral mascot,'' athletic director John Sonnemann said. ``It won't be male or female. I envision it just saying `Titans.'''

That would be fine with Robey, who said: ``No Lady Titans or Titanettes for the girls' teams. It's just `Titans.' ''
