A SALUTE TO OUR HEROES, NEAR AND FAR : TODAY'S TOPIC:.


Heroes are a rare breed of people. You can find them in your family, the neighborhood, on the big screen, or at concerts and sporting events.

We asked you to write about someone you really admire and to tell us what you like about him or her.

Most readers rated their parents as their biggest heroes for providing them with love, homework assistance, financial support and cooking and cleaning duties.

Hercules is my hero. Because he is strong, brave and smart. And he takes care of his family and others in need and Iolis is his friend too.

My favorite hero is from the baseball National League team ``The Dodgers.'' That hero is Mike Piazza Michael Joseph Piazza (born September 4, 1968 in Norristown, Pennsylvania) is an American Major League Baseball player who currently plays for the Oakland Athletics. He began his career with the Los Angeles Dodgers and played for the Florida Marlins, New York Mets, San Diego Padres . He is number 31. He's the best player of the Dodgers. He won a trophy for the home run he had made in the All-Star game An all-star game is an exhibition game played by the best players in their sports league. The players are often chosen by a popular vote of fans of the sport and the game often occurs at the halfway point of the regular season, although this is not the case for some all-star games . He was the only Dodger there. That's why I admire the Dodgers.

I don't really admire just one person. There are a lot of people I look up to, but the people I admire most are my parents. They have given me food, clothing, shelter and the most important thing they have given me is love. My heroes are the members of the Olympic team. I have been participating in this sport for almost four years. Anytime this event is on TV. I watch and try to spot out things I can do. Someday I hope to be allowed into the Olympic Trials. Even if I do not make the team I will not be upset, just glad I got to be in the trials.
