Carter: We bring commercial project management expertise to the residential market. The management required to construct a commercial multi-story building has been adapted, by The Carman Group, to the residential market. Our method is a successful way to effectively sequence projects to be completed in a minimum of time with efficient use of the budget.

Carter: It means that we draw on a variety of industry research and information to confirm that the design is buildable build·a·ble

REW: How are commercial projects different from residential construction projects?

Carter: Commercial projects are generally more complicated than residential projects due to zoning and multi-tenant uses.

Also, commercial owners know what they are getting into, residential owners generally do not. However, budget and cost issues on a residential job carry a greater impact than on a commercial job due to the source of the finds. A private residential owner will balk balk

REW: What is the biggest mistake in selecting a contractor?

Carter: Besides not verifying references, hiring a contractor that doesn't have experience with your type of project and specified materials will be a problem. The owner will suffer through the contractor's learning curve.
