Redevelopment along the south bank of the Thames a little upstream from London Bridge London Bridge, granite, five-arched bridge formerly over the Thames, in London, England. It is 928 ft (283 m) long and was designed by John Rennie and built between 1824 and 1831.  uncovered old ruins that occasioned a series of archaeological rescue evacuations. Here Yule describes the findings of Roman occupation from about the middle of the first century to about the middle of the fourth.
