Up to now, CNOOC has signed 145 petroleum contracts (agreements) with 70 oil companies in 18 countries and regions and 30 of them are being executed. The total area covered by the contracts under execution is nearly 120 000 [km.sup.2] and 16 oil/gas fields have been established. WC13-1 and WC 13-2 oilfields covered by the present contract are discovered by CNOOC itself. They are located 136 km east of Hainan Wenchang. Talks with Husky started after the oilfields entered the development stage. It is stipulated in the contract that Husky will hold 40% stakes and CNOOC will be the operator.
